NAAN KADAVUL

My review :NAAN KADAVUL

Powered by: Chakpak.com Naan Kadavul

The long wait is finally over .Bala once again proves that he is a master in exploring the unusual. He has dealt with the unfamiliar world of the Agoris & the Begging mafia this time & credit must go to him for making it in a manner such that even those in the fringe regions of Tamil Nadu can understand it. And the way he has gone about things only brings forth one word of praise "Mirattal"

Plot : When the path of an Agor & that of a Begging mafia cross each other - the consequences are told in an engrossing manner.

Arya: Deserves a standing ovation for all that he has undergone for this movie . He is every inch the character he plays. His Swagger , eyes , Body Language , mannerism ...gosh..!!! He is certain to get handsome rewards for the hard work he has put in. All the scenes he encounter the police & that in the court are a scream.

Pooja: It took a long time for the grey matter to cognise that it is indeed the same Pooja whom we have seen so far in silver screen. Her's it yet another performance that fits the character to the T . Her dubbing is a revealation.

The guy who plays the antagonist has fulfilled the hope that Bala would have reposed on him in an equally powerful character to that of Arya's. He is bound to make many a eyeballs role.

Among the supporting cast , each & every one impresses. A special word of appreciation to that young physically challenged boy who comes out with some intelligent one liners often.

Jayamohan's dialogues are not only earthy , witty & intelligent , they are mystic , Philosophical ,sarcastic & hard hitting at times.

Suresh urs has edited the movie . It is a mystery whether it is him or the screenplay writer Bala or the censors , who play the role of the "breakwaters " disrupting the the seamless flow of the script.

Artur Wilson proves that with hard work , intelligent lighting & loads of imagination , one can paint a canvass on screen without resorting to technology.

It is sad that only two of Raja sir's wonderful melodies are in the movie. But he once again proves that he is "THE MASTER" when it comes to BGM . He is the " KING" & he doesn't need it to be approved by those lesser mortals who know a damn about the cultural traits that are hidden in his music.

Coming to Bala , his three years of toils & untold hard work is seen in every shot .When one expected a gory , dark & hard hitting movie from him , he has made this movie in a light hearted manner that every one can relate to - once again proving that one can only expect the unexpected in his movies & that makes him special .

On the down side he may have dispensed with those yesteryear-stars-mimicking scenes as well the songs that comes in the background when Pooja sings -which look very artificial (She may have crooned those in her own voice instead).

On the whole it is one of the best movie that we have some across in the recent years but certainly not the best from Bala.

Bottomline : Naan Kadavul - it's "DIFFERENT" , literally .

4/5
